summertime and the livin' is easy

I have no idea how it happened, but every time Greg and I went back up to Fayetteville this summer we always hung out with the same group of people. We didn't plan it that way... it just happened that the six of us would always be together when we wanted to go do something. So in honor of the memories that the six of us made, here are photos of some of our adventures from summer '09.

The girls: Nellie, Jennifer, and me

GO AMORY, GO AMORY, GO!

The Guys: Chef Gregory showing off his grilling skillz to Amory and Tyler.

Side note - Sometimes I like to call Greg "Emeril." Not because of his culinary talents, but because they totally look alike. Please compare the following:

... and Greg one more time.
See?! I told you.

Now here is picture of Jennifer sleeping in a rocking chair.

Isn't this the cutest dog ever? Her name is Katie Bell and we found her in a store one day when we went shopping. I almost did a separate post for this picture alone and called it "Pink is the New Black, Part Two."

Katie Bell's owner uses cake icing to dye her hair pink. This is pretty much Greg's nightmare though... she's a poodle and she's pink.

I am sorry Amory, but Greg made me do it.
So here is one for payback!!

Pink is the new Black

Recently, I purchased this brand new (well to me anyway) bubble-gum pink coffee table for our new cough rent cough house. I happened upon it at a yard sale in Bryant last week. It was piled high with nick-nacks and stuff, but I just looooved the table itself.

She's a beauty, huh?!?

So after throwing everything off the table and praying that I wasn't going to see a "NFS" sign, I found the price sticker.

And...

Yes, true "Dave Ramsey would be proud" moment. I know.

Greg would have a conniption if I left it pink, so I am still wavering on what color(s) to use.

Since the table had been painted with latex a few times already - white, blue, then (G's favorite) pink - it has to be stripped before I can work any magic (oil-based of course because I do plan on propping my feet upon it daily).

Stay tuned. "AFTER" pics in the making...

Mike's video

One of the ministers at my parent's church in Benton posted THIS VIDEO on his blog that blew my mind. It only takes about three minutes and will be well worth your time. (But don't read the comments until after you have viewed it because they will ruin it.)

I especially like that he asked what kind of spiritual implications might this have on your life. It gets you thinking...

goodbye apartment

Since Greg and I are in the midst of moving to a new rent house across town (new pics coming soon), I thought I would post pictures of our old apartment.

This was actually our 2nd apartment. Our first would be the one in Benton for $375/month - water included- with no heat (we got married in December, mind you!), and the raccoons and crazy man with the shot gun that would sometimes walk on the roof. Wow... we really were living on love! This puppy was quite the upgrade though, and we will surly miss it!

The HUMONGO Living Room. (You are only seeing about a third!)
When I made the curtains I did not line them. So they shown like highlighter green during the day when the sun came through. I was on a budget here, people!

La Cocina.
A view into the kitchen where I slaved away daily, ha.

Guess who's bathroom: mine or Greg's?

How did you know? What gave it away?!

and Greg's bathroom.
We might have had a few "marital discussions" about that tiny plant on the counter. I don't see the big deal.

The Master Bedroom.
Oh, how I yearned to slap some color around on those walls (and drop-kick the ceiling fan out the window)!

and......

Here it comes......

The reason we NEED to move.....

Brace yourself.....

The Office/Guest Room/Traveling Souvenirs Room/Storage Room. AHHHHHH!!!!!

P.S. Say "goodbye" to that desk, too. Its being replaced (big smiles from me) and you'll be hearing about it!

Happy 12th? of July

These pictures were taken over 4th of July weekend (yes I
do realize I am eight days late, thanks). Peyton came down for a visit and we all had ourselves a great time doing, you know... 2-year old stuff.

Saturday we went to the Bennett's house in the Village for some more lake-time and good food (Thanks Mrs. Paula and mom-in-law Gail!).

We introduced Peyton to Lake Balboa and let's just say that she wasn't too thrilled about it.
Lucky for her, she's got tubes in her ears, so we didn't make her swim laps...

...this time. :)

The kiddy swimming pool
beside the lake however, was much more appealing to her.

I love me some Peyton!

Why can't we all be so lucky as to have an uncle like this!?
