Kitchen Renovation Complete

Our first kitchen remodeling endeavor is just about complete :)

BEFORE

We loved the country feel of the kitchen but wanted to update and lighten it up.

As I stated before, we went with a beadboard backsplash instead of tile or anything else because beadboard is so cheap, and we love the way it looks.  In fact, it's so cheap, we extended it up to the ceilings and put it on the island as well.

A family friend installed the beadboard for us and sanded the cabinets.  Then my mom and I primed and painted (Thanks Mom!!!).

We had tile installed behind the stovetop because I was afraid the beadboard, since it's wood, would catch on fire... kind of like the time I caught my mother-in-law's kitchen on fire (still so sorry about that!!).  Anyways, I love the way it turned out!  It's on the diagonal to contrast the vertical stripes of the beadboard.

Here's the first AFTER shot.  (FYI, the knobs for the cabinet doors are on back order.)

The upper cabinets and beadboard are SW's "Softer Tan" in a semi-gloss.  The lower cabinets and the island are BM's "Stampede."  It's the same color we used on the top of our fireplace, which is across from the kitchen, so it all kind of flows together.

I found this website on Pinterest with free Bible verse printables.  It's got some really cute ones if you're interested.

  2. Your kitchen looks way better now! It's brighter, and you've chosen light colors that are very soothing to the senses. The clock and the high chairs give it a classic touch. you’d have a wonderful time cooking up new dishes and recipes in that kitchen! Congratulations!
